Larry Gelwix Reviews Star Clipper Group Cruise 2023

Cathy, my wife, and I just returned from our “Greek Isles and Turkey” group adventure cruise with the Star Clipper cruise line sailing on the Star Clipper ship.

Star Clippers is perfect for mobile, active lifestyle guests of all ages…those with “adventure in their hearts”, regardless of age.

Yes, this is a “tall ship” with sails, but is also a modern ship with propeller motors and all the amenities for smooth sailing, and don’t get me started on how good the food.

We visited familiar ports of Athens, Kuşadasi for Ephesus, and Mykonos, then continued to quaint out-of-the-way islands including Amorgos and Spetses…think “Mama Mia” type islands, places the large cruise ships cannot go.

Our group enjoyed spending time onboard the ship in a true sailing experience, wind in our hair as we watched the blue waters float by.  We played on the front net connected to the bow, climbed to the top of the center mass and even got to steer the ship!  Does it sound like a brochure statement?  If so it’s because it really does deliver a true sailors experience.  And in the dining room, Star Clippers does it right.

Group Cruising, the best of both worlds?

Do you like cruising? Why?

Do you like traveling with a group? Why?

Not to sound like a three year old, but you should ask yourself these questions because some of the best features you enjoy about these two traveling styles can come together, like a great ice cream sundae, and make the perfect choice for your next travel adventure.

Top 5 Reasons to Consider a Groups Cruise:

  • 1. Unpacking once and having your hotel travel with you: To most people, this is what they like the most about cruising and like the least about a land tour. The benefit here is huge, especially if you are a classic over-packer! You know who you are.
  • 2. Sea Days: We hear on land tours that it would be great to have a "down day" to let your legs rest and catch up on some sleep. When asked what of the tour they would give up for this down day they can't decide. Since most cruise itineraries require a day at sea to travel to our next port, it's the perfect answer to this question.
